Joe graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the College of Business at the University of Tennessee. After graduation, Joe worked in Houston's energy and chemical industry for three years before attending law school. Joe attended the University of Houston Law Center where, during his first year, he won the John Black Moot Court Competition. He continued to compete for UH in national moot court tournaments around the country over the next two years and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers during his third year. He was also awarded the Judge Shearn Smith Scholarship during his third year in recognition of his academic accomplishments.
After his first year in law school, Joe began clerking at O'Quinn Laminack and Pirtle, assisting in representing injured plaintiffs over the next two years. During his last year of law school, Joe became a third-year member of the State Bar of Texas and began making court appearances, arguing motions and taking depositions. Upon graduation in 2007, Joe accepted a position with Rathwell & Nizialek working on defense of personal injury litigation. He defended many insureds in car accidents as well as oilfield and energy companies in personal injury suits. In late 2008, Joe joined Fibich, Hampton & Leebron to represent plaintiffs in personal injury, employment, and deceptive trade practices litigation.
